Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a joint development between Baokai Games and Ecolab, and is the successor to Plants vs. Zombies.
Here you can find the familiarity of the very first Plants vs Zombies and the freshness of a journey through time and space. Hundreds of plants can be collected and in addition to the familiar ones there are many new additions such as the boomerang shooter (which hits three targets twice each) and of course many different kinds of zombies such as the sun god zombie (which steals sunlight).
There are currently 11 time zones with over 300 levels, such as Mystic Egypt, Wild West, Pirate's Haven and many more. Each time zone has its own plant and zombie countermeasures, for example, the barrel zombie in Pirate's Haven can crush other plants with its roller, but the steel spikes can quickly destroy the barrel zombie's barrels so that he cannot continue to destroy the plant defences you have built.
There are many items such as chlorophyll which increases the attack power of plants for a short period of time (some plants are permanently boosted), tactical cucumbers which destroy all zombies on screen, and plant dress-ups which permanently increase the power of plants.
There are different types of fun levels in the same space and time. For example, the desert has a matching level where you need to successfully match the patterns in the zombie's hands to win. There are different types of fun levels in different time zones.

Plants vs Zombies 2 is a tower defence game like Plants vs Zombies, you need to place functional, attack and defence type plants in front of the room to stop the zombies from entering the room and eating your brains. There are usually five paths to your position and the zombies will randomly appear on one of the paths and move in a straight line. At first the zombies don't appear too densely so you can wait for them to appear before placing attack type plants and then set up your own defences on each path. There is a cart at the end of each path near the house. If a zombie eats a plant on one of the paths, then the cart will also help you destroy the zombies, but this is a one-time event and the cart will disappear from the path.
As you progress through the levels you will need to collect keys to unlock the next world, the later the world is unlocked the more difficult it becomes. Different time zones and levels have different types of zombies, so you need to choose the right plants and work together to win the game. In different worlds you need to collect stars, which can be used to exchange plants, sun shovels and other props, and of course you can also dress up plants with pendants to improve their combat power, or collect plant pieces to help them advance.
There are also many other items that can be used to increase your combat power, such as chlorophyll, which can increase your plant's combat power for a short period of time (some plants have permanent effects), but you can only store a limited amount of chlorophyll in each level, and the chlorophyll you get in a level cannot be carried over to the next level. When the situation is urgent and there are more zombies than you can handle at the moment, you can use the Tactical Cucumber (purchased with diamonds) to help you get through the situation by destroying all the zombies within the screen.
